The Catalan Institute of Finance (ICF) granted a 9.64 million euro loan to the Tarragona Water Consortium (CAT) this Monday for a new facility in l'Ampolla.

The project aims to build a second raw water tank at the Baix Ebre treatment plant, doubling the current storage capacity to 360.000 cubic meters. The total cost of the infrastructure is estimated at 13.4 million euros.

"It will allow the Consortium to be more resilient and offer water to members for 24 or 48 hours, regardless of river extractions."

Marc Brunet · President of CAT
The loan, part of the EcoVerda climate action fund, features an eleven-year repayment term. Construction is expected to last thirteen months, covering an area of 28,000 square meters to secure water supply for the entire Tarragona province.
