The victim was on top of the train when he received an electric shock from the overhead line, causing him to fall to the ground. Emergency services performed resuscitation maneuvers for approximately 20-25 minutes before transferring the young man, once stabilized, to a hospital in Tarragona.
According to the deputy inspector of the Local Police, Jordi Gil, speaking to Altafulla Ràdio, the young man climbed onto the train to view the astronomical phenomenon, accessing a dangerous location. Gil lamented such reckless acts and confirmed it was the only significant incident of the day.
The Local Police were the first to arrive at the scene, alerted by 112 around 8:20 PM as the eclipse was beginning. A patrol from the Mossos d'Esquadra and three Bombers (firefighters) units also responded.
