The awarded company, specializing in enhancing cultural heritage and museum design, will have six months to develop the plan that will position the MAMT as a national and international benchmark. The new facility will be located at the headquarters of the Palau de la Diputació, on Passeig de Sant Antoni.
Among the company's notable projects are the usage plan for the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the Menorca Talaiòtica candidacy for World Heritage status, and the documentation of collections for the Reial Monestir de Pedralbes.
Kultura, Idees i Estratègies' proposal received the highest score among the three bids submitted for the public tender. The museological plan will define the museum's mission, objectives, collection policy, content, cultural activities, and territorial impact, incorporating input from artistic and cultural stakeholders across the region.
This contract, valued at 31,744.35 euros (VAT included), is part of the strategy by the Diputació de Tarragona and the Department of Culture to relocate the MAMT to the premises on Passeig de Sant Antoni. This move coincides with the acquisition of the Col·lecció de la Galeria Forvm.
Both administrations signed a protocol of intentions on November 12, through which the body chaired by Noemí Llauradó committed to promoting studies on the uses, spaces, costs, financing, and management of the new headquarters. These studies are prerequisites for drafting the museographic and architectural project.
Meanwhile, some images from the Col·lecció Forvm are now on display at the current MAMT premises on Santa Anna street. The exhibition, open until January 10, showcases a selection from the nearly 1,700 works by 310 artists, featuring photographs from the 1950s to the present day, including artists such as Agustí Centelles, Colita, Joan Fontcuberta, and Cindy Sherman.
