The ONCE has announced that its 'Cuponazo' on Friday, June 12th, will be dedicated to the apostolic visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain. A total of 13.5 million coupons will be distributed throughout the country, featuring the Pontiff's image and the motto chosen for this trip: ‘Alzad la mirada’.
The presentation of this initiative took place this Thursday in Tarragona. At an event held in the city, the Archbishop of Tarragona, Joan Planellas, received a replica of the coupon from Josep Vilaseca, the director of the ONCE in Tarragona. Also attending the event were Santiago Soro, vicar general of the Archdiocese, and Carolina S. Toledo, a member of the organization's works committee.
According to Vilaseca, the more than 21,300 ONCE vendors will distribute this coupon across Spain, carrying it "close to their hearts." This initiative not only accompanies the Pope's journey but also aims to promote reflection on inclusion, solidarity, and the creation of a more accessible society.
Pope Leo XIV's apostolic journey will take place between June 6th and 12th, marking the Pontiff's first official visit to Spain since his election. The itinerary includes stops in Madrid (June 6-8), where he will preside over a mass in Plaza de Cibeles and participate in Corpus Christi events; Barcelona (June 9-10), where he will bless the new tower of the Sagrada Família; and finally Canary Islands (June 11-12), where he will visit a reception center to learn about the migratory reality of the archipelago.
The ONCE's 'Cuponazo,' held every Friday, offers a main prize of six million euros for the five digits and series, plus 134 prizes of 40,000 euros. The coupons are sold through the ONCE vendor network and authorized sales channels.
