The negative streak for Nàstic de Tarragona reached its peak this Blue Monday, after conceding the fourth consecutive defeat against Atlético Sanluqueño. This worrying lack of competitiveness has condemned the team to fight for relegation unless there is an immediate turnaround.
The reality is undeniable: Nàstic had not lost four consecutive league matches since the 2009-2010 season. That campaign ended with the team’s agonizing salvation, just one point away from dropping to Segunda B. At that time, César Ferrando was dismissed, and the season closed with five defeats in the last six games, already under Luis César.
Nàstic has become a team with very low self-esteem, to the point that the feeling that the situation is overwhelming the locker room is now irrefutable.
The board already used the coaching change card after the defeat against Atlético Madrileño (0-3), replacing Luis César with Cristóbal Parralo. Although the change had an initial effect, Parralo's numbers (11 points in nine matches) are similar to those of Luis César (14 points in 10 matches). Confidence in the coach remains, but a fifth consecutive defeat against Ibiza could exhaust his margin.
The club clings to the immediate schedule as a lifeline. Three of the next four league matches will be played at the Nou Estadi in Tarragona: against Ibiza, Villarreal B, and Betis Deportivo, with a visit to Alcorcón in between. The maroon entity needs to breathe again, and that only happens by starting to win this Saturday.
