The Rei en Jaume Regatta reaches its 40th edition, taking place from September 10th to 12th, and has established itself as a sporting and historical link between Salou and Calvià.

The competition, now in its XL edition, is commemorated with an exhibition reviewing its history through photographs and documents. The regatta, departing from Salou on September 11th, anticipates the participation of approximately 30 vessels.
The official presentation was held at the Calvià Town Hall, presided over by mayors Juan Antonio Amengual (Calvià) and Pere Granados (Salou), with the presence of representatives from the nautical clubs of Santa Ponça and Salou.

"Reaching 40 editions is a reason for pride for everyone. We are capable of uniting history, culture, sport, tradition, and twinning in a single event."

Juan Antonio Amengual · Mayor of Calvià
The mayor of Calvià highlighted the event's continuity and described it as an extraordinary experience that combines sailing, sunset, and sunrise on the Mediterranean.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, emphasized the historical dimension of the regatta, recalling King Jaume I's departure from Salou towards Mallorca on September 5th, 1229, an event that marked the history of the territories and the Mediterranean.
Granados noted that this anniversary allows for the preservation and projection of Salou's historical memory, making the regatta an opportunity to showcase its historical significance.
