The city of Tarragona has welcomed thirty new vehicles joining the fleet for the cleaning and waste collection service, operated by Urbaser.

Mayor Rubén Viñuales highlighted that this addition represents "more cleaning capacity with water, increased frequency, greater specialization, and a better response." It is expected that by the end of the year, the previous fleet of 120 vehicles will be completely renewed.
Six of the new vehicles are already operational, while the remaining 24 will be gradually incorporated once necessary procedures, such as registration, are completed. Some of these vehicles are vans designated for service inspection and verification of proper execution.
The new units include sweepers that will operate in morning and afternoon shifts, as indicated by the Councilor for Public Cleaning, Sonia Orts. These machines will not only serve the urban center and neighborhoods but also commercial and industrial estates, as well as markets.
The fleet also features a specialized machine for intensive and specific cleaning of persistent grease. This addition addresses the need for deeper, more tailored cleaning solutions.
Regarding recent complaints about the high temperatures endured by workers, it was emphasized that all new vehicles are equipped with air conditioning. Furthermore, efforts are underway to install this system in older vehicles as well. Rubén Viñuales noted that last Friday, only one of the vehicles operating lacked this feature.
