Unió Esportiva l’Espluga will play its first official match in the Catalunya Cup this Sunday, a historic milestone achieved after winning the Fourth Catalan league last season.

The debut for the Espluga team will take place at the Riu Sec stadium, starting at 7:30 PM, against Salou, a team from a higher league. This participation is a new recognition of the season that concluded with their promotion to Third Catalan.
The team faces the match in the midst of its preparation phase, although affected by absences and physical issues during the initial weeks of preseason. Training began on August 10th, and so far, two friendly matches have been played: a 3-2 loss against Cultural Bonavista and a four-goal draw against Albi.
The duel against Salou will be the third preparation match, but with the unique characteristic of being an official competition. The coaching staff prioritizes accumulating playing time and preventing injuries, although the team is expected to compete despite seven confirmed absences.
In parallel, the club has finalized the signings of Marc Duran, Marc Nadal, and Aleix Barrabeig, and anticipates confirming two or three more arrivals to complete the squad for the new season.
