Marina Daniel will be part of the Research Group in Landscape Archaeology (GIAP). Her doctoral thesis, titled 'A New Approach to the Agroeconomic Systems of the Aegean in the Bronze Age', will be supervised by Dr. Alexandra Livarda (ICAC) and Dr. Joaquim Ruiz de Arbulo (URV).
The research aims to provide new data on food consumption, the environment, agricultural practices, and mobility patterns in the Aegean during the Bronze Age. To achieve this, plant remains from archaeological sites in the Aegean islands and mainland Greece will be studied.
Furthermore, the thesis will compare the different management strategies for agricultural production and plant resources developed by the various societies that coexisted in the region during this period, seeking a more complete understanding of the interactions between economy, society, and environment.
Marina Daniel holds a degree in Art History and Archaeology from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) (2024). She completed the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Applied Classical Archaeology. Research and Transfer (URV-UAB-ICAC) in 2025, specializing in archaeobotany with a master's final project graded as Excellent.
Her training in archaeobotany has been strengthened by two research stays at the Archaeobotany Laboratory directed by Dr. Alexandra Livarda, made possible by grants from the Ministry of Education and curricular internships.
