Following a Saturday marked by intense rainfall, the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) has issued new alerts for torrential rains this Sunday in the province of Tarragona.

Meteocat has established an orange warning for the counties of Montsià, Baix Ebre, and Baix Camp, and a yellow warning for Tarragonès and Ribera d’Ebre. These alerts will be in effect from midnight until noon on Sunday, with the possibility of registering over 20 liters per square meter in just 30 minutes.
Saturday was characterized by torrential rains that caused numerous incidents across the province, including floods, rescues, and material damage. In Roda de Berà, the collapse of a wall injured three people and led to the evacuation of about 300 individuals from a campsite. Locations such as El Vendrell, Creixell, and Torredembarra also experienced significant water accumulation, affecting vehicles and streets.
Some areas in Roda de Berà recorded over 200 liters per square meter, while El Vendrell accumulated more than 130 liters, and Torredembarra saw around 137 liters. These precipitations resulted in 829 calls to the 112 emergency number and left 11 people injured.
Although the most intense rainfall episode appears to have concluded, Meteocat warns that new intense storms could occur in various parts of the province on Sunday. However, the intensity and accumulation of precipitation are not expected to reach the levels recorded during Saturday morning.
Protecció Civil (Civil Protection) maintains the Inuncat plan activated in alert phase to closely monitor the meteorological evolution and any potential incidents, particularly in already affected areas and known flood-prone spots.
