Dozens of farmers spent the night blocking access to the Port of Tarragona, maintaining the cut on the A-27 this Friday, while awaiting a crucial meeting with Minister Òscar Ordeig to demand rejection of the EU-Mercosur treaty.

The farmers used tents, trailers, and vehicles to stay overnight at the entrance of the port infrastructure, as part of their mobilization against the food trade agreement that the European Union plans to sign with the Mercosur bloc of countries.

The mobilization seeks to pressure Catalan and European authorities to take a clear stand against the Mercosur trade agreement, which they consider detrimental to the primary sector.

The farmers intend to maintain the blockade on the A-27 motorway, a key access route to the port, until next Sunday. This action aims to maximize the visibility of their demands and the logistical impact.
The central point of the day will be the meeting scheduled for Friday afternoon in the city of Tarragona with the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig. Throughout the day, protesters will hold assemblies to coordinate the evolution of protests across Catalonia and plan future actions.
