The president of Paradores de Turismo, Raquel Sánchez, has confirmed that the state agency is evaluating the former Bank of Spain building in Tarragona as a potential site for its first hotel in the city.

The building, located at 101 Rambla Nova, has been vacant since 2003. The proposal discussed with Tarragona City Council involves renovating the existing 3,000-square-meter structure and adding a 4,000-square-meter annex to reach a total of 7,000 square meters.

"Tarragona is a World Heritage city, and we have paradores in almost all World Heritage cities. It is interesting for the network."

Mayor Rubén Viñuales hosted a technical visit on November 3 to inspect the facilities. This option has become the primary focus after other locations like Ca l'Ardiaca and Casa Montoliu were ruled out due to insufficient space for the state-owned hotel chain's requirements.
