The Parliament of Catalonia has approved a motion urging the Government to establish a stable collaboration framework with the company Dow to protect employment at the petrochemical complex in Tarragona.

The initiative, which received the support of the majority of the chamber, demands that administrative support be linked to clear conditions, such as the effective realization of investments, the maintenance of the cracker's activity, and the preservation of jobs affected by the cuts announced by the company.
Furthermore, the approved text calls for the creation of a tripartite working group between the Department of Business and Labor, the company, and worker representatives. The goal is to agree on actions that guarantee the competitiveness of the Tarragona complex and to carry out a thorough follow-up of the commitments made.
On the other hand, the chamber requests that the Government work with the Ministry of Industry to ensure that the Tarragona complex is recognized as a critical facility. It also calls for the promotion of compensation measures for energy and emission costs for energy-intensive industrial sectors.
