The Port of Tarragona has successfully recruited 17 women out of 37 new staff members in the past year, representing 46% of all new appointments in Tarragona.

This figure marks a significant shift compared to the overall workforce, which currently stands at 32% female. The new professionals have joined key departments such as Environment, Energy Transition, and Human Resources, aligning with the port's Equality Plan.

"Attracting female talent and promoting the professionals already in our team are priority objectives."

To commemorate International Women's Day, port buildings and the mobile bridge will be illuminated in purple until March 9th. The port also continues its partnership with WISTA and the Portuàries Association to increase visibility for women in the shipping industry.
Cultural events are also scheduled at the Port Museum, including the exhibition Dones de Mar (Women of the Sea) and panel discussions featuring local women from the Serrallo fishing community.
