The demonstration began at 6:00 AM at one of the main entrances to the Tarragona facility. Organized by the works council, the protest targets a new organizational plan that unions claim will eliminate 26 structural positions. Labor representatives argue that the workload remains unchanged, meaning the remaining staff will face increased pressure.

The conflict arises despite Repsol reporting strong financial results, with a net profit of 1.899 billion euros in 2025, an 8.1% increase from the previous year. Union leaders criticized that these strategic decisions are made in Madrid without consulting the local workforce or considering the operational reality of the plant.
