Roda de Berà will gain a new building with 38 affordable rental apartments on Lola Anglada street, thanks to a Ministry of Housing project.

The municipality of Roda de Berà will soon have a new housing block offering 38 affordable rental apartments. The construction will take place at number 7 Lola Anglada street, in an area of El Francaset located between the AP-7 motorway and a sports complex. This initiative represents the only project the Ministry of Housing will develop in the province of Tarragona with the recent transfer of 260 million euros allocated to creating public housing stock through the Casa 47 program.
The plot, which has been recovered from Sareb and has approximately 5,220 square meters of consolidated urban residential land, will allow for the construction of this new facility. According to Casa 47 sources, rental contracts can have a duration of up to 75 years, with an initial phase of 14 years and automatic 7-year extensions subject to compliance with access conditions. The price will be set based on affordability criteria, considering the citizen's ability to pay and capped at 30% of the regional average income.
This intervention in Roda de Berà is part of a broader package of 22 projects across Spain aiming to develop up to 1,629 new homes in 12 autonomous communities. In Catalonia, besides Roda de Berà, projects are planned in Girona and Santa Coloma de Gramanet. In the province of Tarragona, Casa 47 is already undertaking another project for 22 homes in Batea, and more homes recovered from Sareb are expected to be added.
The council of Roda de Berà has also offered municipal land to the Generalitat to expand the affordable housing supply, including a plot in El Francaset capable of housing 23 social rental apartments and another in Berà Mar. Recently, the keys to three affordable rental apartments were handed over in La Barquera.

"This is a good initiative that aligns with the council's goal of promoting affordable rent. We want these types of homes to be distributed throughout the municipality and for the supply to meet Roda's demands to cover them completely, as the rental market is currently strained."

Pere Virgili · Mayor of Roda de Berà
The mayor of Roda de Berà, Pere Virgili, has positively assessed the Ministry's project, highlighting that it aligns with the municipal objective of promoting affordable rent and that the aim is for an equitable distribution of these homes across the municipality to meet existing demand, given the currently strained rental market.
