Salou City Council has initiated a modification of the POUM to designate land for the construction of 1,636 social housing units, exceeding the needs identified by the municipality.

The measure responds to the conclusions of the first Local Housing Plan, which highlighted the urgency of providing 690 social apartments over the next six years. With this action, the council aims not only to meet current demand but also to prepare for demographic growth and residential market fluctuations.
The urban project includes reserving land in both urban and developable areas. This planning seeks to facilitate housing access for young people, families, and workers wishing to settle in Salou.
The recently approved plan includes 25 lines of action, notably the expansion of the public housing stock, the mobilization of available land, and improved collaboration with other public administrations to ensure project execution.
