The Salou City Council has initially approved an ambitious investment plan of 1.7 million euros to renovate and expand sidewalks at 27 locations across the municipality, aiming to enhance pedestrian mobility and safety.

This initiative, representing one of the most significant urban development investments in Salou in recent years, has a total budget of 1,763,664 euros, including VAT. The project envisions interventions in various neighborhoods and streets, with the goal of improving the quality of public spaces and pedestrian safety.
The actions include pavement renovation, curb repair, adaptation of urban elements, replacement of street furniture, and modernization of vertical signage. It also covers the replacement of service frames and covers, trimming of superficial roots, and the creation of tree pits for urban trees.
Key areas for improvements include the surroundings of educational centers such as Escola Salou and Escola Vora Mar, as well as the municipal residence. Interventions will also take place on main thoroughfares like Pau Casals Avenue and streets such as Montsant, Jaume Vicens Vives, Rosa Sensat, Pierre Vilar, Domènec Sugrañes i Gras, Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, Ferran Soldevila, Major, Navarra, Zaragoza, Priorat, Huesca, and Valls. Plaça de la Sardana, Passatge de les Antines, and Via Aurèlia are also part of the plan.
The project also includes the expansion of three strategic sidewalks: on Murillo Street, between Carles Buïgas and Barbastro; on Berenguer de Palou Street; and on the west sidewalk of Fra Juníper Serra Street. For Berenguer de Palou Street, the plan involves renewing the tree population with native species, creating landscaped areas, and installing new public lighting with low-consumption LED technology.
Additionally, a new sidewalk will be constructed on Carrer dels Caçadors, in Cap Salou, featuring concrete paving, new parking areas, vehicle access ramps, and a modernized public lighting system. Once the public exhibition period is completed and final approval is granted, the project will be put out to tender, with an estimated execution period of ten months, carried out in phases to minimize impact on residents' daily lives.
