Nearly a hundred self-employed professionals gathered this Monday in Tarragona to demand that authorities provide better social security coverage and a fairer tax system for the sector.

The demonstration started at Passeig de les Palmeres and covered a two-kilometer route through the city center. Protesters highlighted the lack of basic rights, such as paid leave for the death of a relative or the suspension of monthly social security fees during medical leave.

"Just like teachers or doctors, we are also fighting, and it is up to the administrations to provide solutions."
