Hundreds of people filled the Salou pavilion this Saturday, July 11th, for a solidarity event dedicated to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and to pay tribute to Ernest Queralt, affectionately known as 'Nestu', a beloved figure in provincial futsal who passed away last October.
The event featured two matches: a game between Tarragona futsal legends and the 'Amics del Nestu Grans' (Friends of Nestu Seniors) team, followed by a match between the All-Stars team of the 2026/27 season and the 'Amics del Nestu Joves' (Friends of Nestu Youths). Beyond the sports results, the day highlighted the values of friendship, community, and solidarity.
The fundraising was boosted by a raffle of prizes donated by local businesses, companies, and entities. This initiative successfully raised €900, which will be entirely donated to SwimforELA, an organization committed to research and the fight against ALS.
The organizers expressed gratitude to the volunteers, participating teams, collaborators, and attendees, emphasizing how sport can unite people, keep the memory of loved ones alive, and support worthy causes.
