The city of Tarragona and its surrounding regions are on high alert this Wednesday as Storm Regina brings a period of severe weather, including heavy rainfall, strong winds, and dangerous sea conditions.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (Meteocat) has issued warnings for the Tarragonès area, where wind gusts could exceed 70 km/h. The storm, originating from North Africa, has already introduced significant amounts of calima (suspended dust) into the atmosphere, creating a hazy yellow sky across the province.
Rainfall is expected to be particularly intense between Thursday and Friday, with forecasts suggesting accumulations of over 100 liters per square meter in some areas. Civil Protection has activated the INUNCAT pre-alert plan to manage potential flooding risks.
Coastal areas are also under threat, with waves predicted to reach heights of 2.5 meters. Drivers are urged by the Catalan Transit Service to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles during heavy downpours.
