Tarragona has successfully hosted the 2026 European Triathlon Championship, with ambitious plans to become a global benchmark in the sport.

The President of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, José Hidalgo, has highly praised the European Championship held in Tarragona, emphasizing the circuit's "personality" and the exceptional public support. Beyond the organizational success, Hidalgo expressed satisfaction with the performance of national athletes, who competed at the forefront despite challenging conditions of heat and a tough course. The federation considers the event a sporting and logistical triumph.
The organization is already looking to the future with the intention of making a global leap. "Now what we want is to take the step to a worldwide level," the president affirmed. The aim is to maintain synergy with local and international institutions to establish Tarragona as a global reference point for triathlon.
Hidalgo confirmed the strong commitment from the Port, the City Council, the Provincial Council, and the Generalitat, along with the International Federation, to make the city an "international benchmark" and place it "on the world triathlon map".
