The 34th edition of the International Fireworks Competition City of Tarragona will be held from July 1 to 4. As an inaugural event, on Tuesday, June 30, a large drone show by Flock Drone Art will take place, combining aerial figures inspired by the Tour de France, one of the summer's major events in the city.
The competition will feature four pyrotechnic companies: Italy's Carmine Lieto, opening the contest on July 1; Pirotecnia Alto Palancia S.L., from the Valencian Community, on Thursday, July 2; Fuegos Artificiales Josman S.L., from Galicia, which won third prize in 2024, on Friday, July 3; and the Dutch company Caffero GmbH, known for its high-tech shows, closing the event on Saturday, July 4.
The drone show will feature over 500 devices that will draw figures related to cycling and the passage of the Tour de France through Tarragona. This proposal aims to be an accessible alternative for individuals with acoustic sensitivity.
As a novelty, the esplanade in front of El Miracle beach will host a gastronomic area with sandwiches, drinks at popular prices, and live music during the competition nights and the drone show. This service will be open until 1 AM.
The removal of the old beach platform has allowed for an expansion of the optimal viewing area, enhancing both visibility and sound quality. Additionally, Tarragona Ràdio will broadcast live on all four competition nights with an audio-description service for visually impaired individuals.
The winner of the competition will design the traditional fireworks display for the Santa Tecla festival, a contract valued at 26,000 euros. Each participating company will receive 25,000 euros to cover their participation costs.
