The Rambla Nova in Tarragona was the setting this Saturday for the 36th edition of the Festa per Tothom (Festival for Everyone), an inclusive celebration that brought together nearly 300 people. The event, promoted by the Department of Functional Diversity and Disability of the Tarragona City Council, aims to promote the active participation of all individuals, especially those with functional diversity, in the city's festive events.
The day featured a traditional parade that ascended the Rambla Nova to the Balcony of the Mediterranean. Various 'geganta' (giant figure) groups participated in this procession, including the giants Frida and Flora, the Colla Gegantera de l’Hospitalet de l’Infant, the Gegant Normag de Sarrià, the Colla de la Clementina del Barri del Port de Tarragona, the Colla Dominiques de Tarragona, and the Colla de geganters d’Alcover. The inclusive batucada group Batukaselva provided the rhythm for the procession.
The councilor for Functional Diversity and Disability, Cecilia Mangini, highlighted the initiative's importance in ensuring that people with functional diversity not only enjoy the events but also actively participate in them, thereby contributing to Tarragona's festive heritage.
During the upcoming Santa Tecla festivals, several measures will be maintained to ensure accessibility. These include interpretation of the opening speech in LSC (Catalan Sign Language), reserved spaces during parades, adapted transport services, and suitable sanitary facilities. Additionally, the 'quiet street' on Santa Anna street will be maintained, a space designed for people with functional diversity, with reduced sound levels and no pyrotechnics.
