After commissioning a feasibility study, the Tarragona council has opened this consultation to analyze the best exploitation formula for the solar park planned for the market area and parking lot in Bonavista. The goal, according to the Councillor for the Environment, Guillermo García, is to ensure a "robust" and "profitable" project before making a significant investment.
“"It must serve to supply many services located there and, if possible, offer vulnerable residents sustainable and affordable energy."
The collection of opinions, open to all operators and companies in the sector until February 25, will serve to evaluate the legal systems for managing the energy produced, which is intended for the self-consumption of municipal facilities. The City Council aims for the surplus to have a clear social return, especially benefiting the Ponent neighborhoods closest to the installation.
The project, for which the feasibility study was awarded to Venersol Engineering SL, forecasts a power of 6.26 peak megawatts (MWp) and an annual generation of 9,373 megawatt hours (MWh). Furthermore, the construction of an "iconic" pergola will be mandatory in an area of about 6,000 m2, integrated into the urban environment to maintain the market and promote other recreational, sports, or social activities.
