The city of Tarragona becomes this Sunday the southernmost municipality visited by the Tour de France, hosting the official start of the second stage of the cycling race.

Following the opening day in Barcelona, the competition moves south. Parc del Francolí will be the hub of the event, with the Village opening at 10:45 AM. An estimated 50,000 to 80,000 spectators are expected to witness the 5.9-kilometer neutralized route.
The urban route will begin at the Torre dels Vents and pass through iconic landmarks such as Rambla Nova, the Balcó del Mediterrani, and the Amfiteatre. At 1:56 PM, from the N-340 near Savinosa, the official stage start will take place, passing through towns such as Altafulla, Torredembarra, Creixell, Roda de Berà, Calafell, Cunit, and El Vendrell before finishing in Montjuïc.
The event has significant international reach, with broadcasts planned in 190 countries. Local authorities have highlighted the opportunity it provides for tourism promotion and the region's position as a premier destination for cycling tourism.
