Despite this increase, Tarragona remains the most affordable province in Catalonia. The average cost per square meter in July stood at 8.95 euros, considerably lower than Barcelona's 18.88 euros per square meter, which ranks as the third most expensive province in Spain.
Among Catalan capitals, Tarragona led the monthly increase in rental prices during July, with a 0.34% rise compared to June. This trend contrasts with the 0.51% decrease recorded in Barcelona.
Tarragona's figures differ from the general trend in Catalonia. The average Catalan rental price was 16.82 euros per square meter, 1.84% less than in June, but 7.64% more expensive than in July 2025. Catalonia remains the third autonomous community with the highest rents, behind Madrid and the Balearic Islands.
Ferran Font, Director of Studies at pisos.com, attributes this situation to "structural pressure" driven by increased rental demand and a reduction in available housing. According to Font, this leads to "more competition among potential renters, less time to make decisions, and more demanding access conditions".
