The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya has warned of an intense heat episode that will intensify between Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecasts indicate that thermometers could reach 42 degrees in several parts of the territory, while coastal and pre-coastal areas will exceed 40 degrees.
Given this situation, Protecció Civil maintains the alert phase of the PROCICAT plan and the emergency phase of the INFOCAT plan. The main concern for emergency services is the combination of heat with very low relative humidity, which may fall below 30% during the central hours of the day.
So far, the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques has treated 44 people for heat-related illnesses since July 5th. Health authorities recommend staying hydrated, avoiding intense physical activity, and protecting vulnerable groups.
