The city of Tarragona is preparing for the 34th edition of its International Fireworks Competition, which will take place from July 1 to 4, featuring companies from various countries and a drone show as a prelude.

The event, which has increased its budget, will award 25,000 euros to each participating pyrotechnics company. Additionally, the winner will have the opportunity to participate in the Festes de Santa Tecla, valued at 26,000 euros.
As a notable new feature, on June 30, a drone show dedicated to the world of cycling will be offered, coinciding with the arrival of the Tour de France in the Tarragona capital. This event, featuring 400 drones from the company Flock Drone Art, will serve as a prelude to the start of the second stage of the cycling race on July 5 from Tarragona.
The Granollers City Council and Endesa remain involved in the organization. Endesa, as a sponsor, will support an inclusive event during the drone exhibition, designed to facilitate the participation of people with functional diversity or acoustic sensitivity.
The pyrotechnics companies competing are Carmine Lieto from Italy (July 1), Pirotècnia de Alto Palancia from the Valencian Community (July 2), Fuegos Artificiales Josman from Galicia (July 3), and Caffero GmbH from the Netherlands (July 4).
This year's poster was created by the studio La Torreta, in collaboration with the Fundació Pas a Pas of the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera. The design is inspired by ancient Japanese fireworks catalogs, known as hanabi or 'fire flowers', which depicted explosions with simple drawings.
