The Tarragona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya officially launched the Part Baixa improvement plan this Monday, involving a total investment of 25 million euros until 2031.

The project includes 34 specific actions focused on urban transformation, housing efficiency, and social community programs. The first step involves renovating a municipal premises on Smith Street to serve as a technical office and information point for residents, with a 200,000 euro budget.

"The path is set, and it can now be said that we have officially started walking towards this transformation that the Part Baixa needs so much."

Key interventions include the remodeling of the Prim-Apodaca axis, improvements around the Palau de Congressos, and better access to the train station. The plan also targets the Roman Theatre surroundings and the recovery of the Santiyán building for community use.
While initial planning begins this year, the bulk of the construction work is scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2029, with the final phase concluding in March 2031.
