Tarragona City Council has unveiled a new Municipal Library Service Deployment Plan, a roadmap designed to expand the city's cultural network with eight facilities by 2042.

The proposal, part of the Tarragona Culture Plan 2033, was presented by Culture Councilor Sandra Ramos. The document aims to address the historical shortage of facilities in the city, which currently relies on only two main public libraries.

"Libraries must become the Primary Care Centers of cultural life."

The strategy divides Tarragona into four zones: Center, North, East, and West. Key projects include the reopening of the Sant Pere i Sant Pau reading point in 2026 and new libraries in Bonavista and Vall de l'Arrabassada.
