The Tarragona City Council and the Provincial Council are accelerating plans to transform Plaça Imperial Tàrraco into a major administrative district, aiming to house 1,000 public employees by 2033.

The project involves renovating the former Caixa Tarragona building for the Provincial Council by 2029 and moving municipal offices from Rambla Nova to the historic Lletres building. This move will save the city 600,000 euros in annual rent.
Councilor Nacho García confirmed that the tender for the municipal project will be launched after this summer. The new hub will also include State officials from the Government Sub-delegation and the Traffic Department, already located in the area.

"We want to have a 21st-century space. We have no complaints about Rambla, but it is an old building with some deficiencies."
