The municipal station Tarragona Ràdio recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with an event at the Teatre Tarragona, recalling a journey that began on February 17, 1986, in the Part Alta district.

The radio project was born under the name Ràdio Fòrum during the term of Mayor Josep Maria Recasens, with Francesc Valls Calzada as its first director. It was not until 1990 that the station adopted its current name, establishing itself as a benchmark for local news in the Tarragonès region.
In 2002, during Joan Miquel Nadal's mayoralty, the station reached a milestone by moving its headquarters to Avinguda Roma, where the current studios were inaugurated. This technical evolution has ensured the medium's relevance despite competition from television and digital platforms.

"I wish long life to Tarragona Ràdio, which brings news to everyone's ears with professionalism and independence."

Sandra Ramos · Municipal company councilor
The celebration at the Teatre Tarragona on February 20 honored the editorial, technical, and administrative teams. The station remains a fundamental pillar for the development of the Camp de Tarragona metropolitan area.
