The Catalan Government and Tarragona City Council signed an agreement this Monday to establish the city as the new permanent home for contemporary dance markets in Catalonia.

Starting in 2027, Tarragona will host CataLANDance, an international platform designed to promote Catalan dance companies abroad. The three-year deal, running until 2029, includes a total investment of 825.000 euros. This strategic move aims to decentralize the region's cultural industry and provide a professional meeting point for international programmers and local artists.

"Tarragona will become the main contracting space for the most current choreographic proposals."

Sònia Hernández · Minister of Culture
The city joins a select group of strategic markets in Catalonia, such as those in Igualada, Tàrrega, and Vic. Mayor Rubén Viñuales emphasized that the city's theaters and heritage sites are ready to welcome the professional sector, while also offering full-length performances to the general public.
