The province of Tarragona will have 73 temporary speed restrictions across its rail network starting next Monday, making it the second most affected region in Catalonia.

According to the latest report from Adif, the Spanish rail infrastructure manager, Catalonia will have a total of 225 restricted sections. In Tarragona, 40 of these are concentrated between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Sant Vicenç de Calders.
Ongoing maintenance at the Roda de Berà tunnel and track improvements between Torredembarra and Sant Vicenç de Calders continue to complicate rail operations. Across the region, Barcelona leads with 103 restricted sections, followed by Tarragona, Girona (33), and Lleida (16).

"The network will be practically operational by these dates, and by April, all temporary speed limitations will have been progressively eliminated."

José Antonio Santano · Secretary of State for Transport
Despite the Ministry of Transport's promises to clear these limits by April, some restrictions have been in place for years. A notable improvement this week is the removal of a 32-kilometer restricted stretch on the R15 line between Móra la Nova and Reus.
