Around 150 protesters blocked the access to the Port of Tarragona via the A-27 highway this Tuesday, as part of a regional education strike across Southern Catalonia.

The demonstration forced authorities to divert heavy truck traffic through the Serrallo neighborhood. Mossos d'Esquadra police monitored the situation as dozens of lorries remained trapped at the port's main entrance.

"What they have given us are trifles, and done behind the collective's back."

In Montblanc, protesters used tires and tractors from the Revolta Pagesa movement to block the AP-2 and N-240 roads. Farmers joined the teachers to protest against increasing bureaucracy in both sectors.
The Department of Education reported a 34.37% turnout for the strike in Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre, although the USTEC union claims the actual participation reached 70%.
