Heavy rainfall and storms that impacted a large part of Catalunya, with a notable focus on the province of Tarragona, led to the Emergency Medical System (SEM) attending to 30 individuals across the region. Of these, four required transfer to hospital facilities.
Patients were taken to hospitals such as Santa Tecla Hospital in Tarragona, Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, and Alt Penedès Hospital in Vilafranca del Penedès. According to the health report, none of the cases were considered serious.
The province of Tarragona experienced the most significant impact, concentrating the majority of incidents. Between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM, the Generalitat Firefighters received 129 calls, 107 of which were specific to this province. Common incidents included trees falling on roads and public areas, as well as severe hailstorms with stones the size of tennis balls, causing damage.
Civil Protection concluded its alert at 10:00 PM for accumulations exceeding 60 l/m² within 3 hours in the Baix Camp and Tarragonès regions. The emergency number 112 received a total of 373 calls by 7:00 PM, generating 259 cases, with 70% concentrated in the Tarragonès region.
For today, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts no alerts for rain or storms in Catalunya, with the day expected to focus on assessing the damage caused by yesterday's weather events.
