The Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Civil experienced significant friction in Vila-seca this Wednesday and Thursday following a lack of coordination during a body recovery operation.

The incident began after Catalan police located the body of a 47-year-old man near La Pineda beach. The intervention led to a jurisdictional dispute regarding maritime authority, resulting in both forces operating simultaneously without a clear lead.
During the maneuver, the Guardia Civil attempted to tow the kayak containing the deceased due to worsening sea conditions. However, the rope snapped, causing the body to be lost at sea and forcing the suspension of the search until the following morning.
On Thursday, a joint effort eventually concluded the operation. Despite losing the original coordinates, Mossos d'Esquadra divers successfully located and retrieved the body during a second dive.
