Thousands of teachers marched through the center of Tarragona this Tuesday, March 17th, during a new day of strikes to demand more resources and a reduction in classroom ratios.

The demonstration moved through the city's main landmarks, starting at plaça Imperial Tarraco and heading up Rambla Nova. Protesters expressed their dissatisfaction in front of the Government delegation and concluded the march at plaça de la Font. During the event, chants were heard calling for the resignation of the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó.
Attendance figures vary significantly. While the USTEC union reported 10,000 participants, police forces estimated the crowd at around 5,000 people. The protest included teaching and administrative staff from the territorial services of Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre, and Penedès.
The Department of Education reported a strike turnout of 34.37% in the region as of 1:00 PM. However, unions claimed a much higher participation rate of 70%, marking the second day of regional educational strikes scheduled for this week.
