The incident occurred early Saturday morning near the nightlife area, on Carrer de Barbastre. A patrol observed a vehicle driving recklessly which, upon parking, hit another car.
Officers approached the vehicle and suspected the driver might be under the influence of substances. During the identification, they saw the driver and a passenger inhaling the contents of a black balloon. All three occupants exhibited disobedient behavior.
With backup from other patrols, the vehicle and its occupants were searched. Approximately 90 grams of hashish, three knives (one automatic), six bottles containing nearly 20 liters of nitrous oxide (laughing gas), about twenty black balloons prepared for distribution, and 340 euros in fragmented cash were found.
The investigation suggests the money came from the retail sale of hashish and nitrous oxide doses in the entertainment district. The detainees, who have a combined total of nearly 50 prior offenses, were brought before the court in Tarragona on Sunday.
