The XV Fira d’Indians will be held in Torredembarra on the weekend of September 12th and 13th. This cultural and tourist event commemorates the town's connection with residents who emigrated to America and, in some cases, returned enriched, leaving a mark on the local heritage.
The Fair offers a wide program of activities combining historical dissemination with leisure and popular culture. It includes guided tours, conferences, wine, coffee, and chocolate tastings, musical performances, parades, children's workshops, and a market with food, crafts, and old trades stalls. The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 12th, at 12 p.m., in the Plaça del Castell, with a coffee and chocolate tasting. The event is organized by the Torredembarra City Council, through the Department of Tourism and Commerce, with the collaboration of the Network of Indian Municipalities and the Costa Daurada Tourism Board.
The Councilor for Tourism and Commerce, Jovita Baltasar, highlights that the Fair showcases the history and heritage of Torredembarra, contributing to the revitalization of the Old Town, local commerce, and tourist activity.
The program includes on Saturday, September 12th, an Indian market and craft fair in C/ Ample and C/ Joan Güell, musical entertainment by La Pianola, a Cuban music recital by Cor Badaveus, and the official inauguration at 12 p.m. in the Plaça del Castell. There will also be stilt walkers, macramé workshops, coffee and chocolate tastings, a conference on slavery by Guerau Xipell, traditional games, guided tours of the municipal cemetery (€3), and Indian tales paired with wine and chocolate (€3).
On Sunday, September 13th, the Indian market and craft fair will continue, along with entertainment by La Pianola. At 12 p.m., there will be the parade and dance of the Indian Giants of Torredembarra with the Xaranga Guirigalls. The day includes macramé workshops, a conference on Gaudí and the Indians by Òscar L. Pinto Baro, guided tours of Indian heritage (€3), a popular chocolate tasting, and sea shanties with mulled rum by Atotavela.
Other activities throughout the weekend include the exhibition 'From Torredembarra to America (1739-1914)' in the Pati del Castell, Indian ladies displays, craft demonstrations in Carrer Ample, and a salsa workshop in the Plaça de la Vila. Attendees dressed in white will receive an Indian hat (limited units).
