The Tarragona City Council has declared three days of official mourning following the deaths of two minors, aged 12 and 13, who drowned at L'Arrabassada beach. The football club CD La Floresta has expressed its grief and paid tribute to the victims.

The football club CD La Floresta has wished to pay a heartfelt tribute to the minor who was part of its youth team and who died in the accident at Tarragona's L'Arrabassada beach. The entity also remembered the other teenager who lost their life in the same incident, as they had also played for the club in previous seasons.
As a sign of mourning, the club has placed a flag with a black crepe in the middle of the pitch. Both the team's teammates and the rest of the club's members are facing the loss of the two young people with deep sadness.
The Tarragona City Council has declared three days of official mourning from this Saturday until Monday. During this period, flags will fly at half-mast and official institutional events organized by the council will be suspended. Additionally, on Sunday at 12 noon, a minute of silence will be observed at the Palau Municipal, in plaça de la Font, as a sign of respect for the victims.

"We join the grief of the families and friends of the victims. It has been a tragic event."

Rubén Viñuales · Mayor of Tarragona
The incident occurred on Friday when a group of six young people were swimming in the Cova del Gos area, a rocky zone between L'Arrabassada and El Miracle beaches. Despite difficulties due to the waves, three of the minors managed to get out of the water, but the other three had to be rescued. A 12-year-old boy drowned, and two 13-year-olds were evacuated in critical condition to the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona, one of whom later died at the hospital. The two fatalities were aged 12 and 13.
The rocky area where the young people were swimming, known as the Morrot rocks, was outside the coverage and sight of the lifeguards. Mayor Viñuales urged caution, warning that "the sea is dangerous" and that "all safety measures must be taken and unnecessary risks avoided," particularly by not jumping from the rocks.
