With the aim of practically analyzing the efficiency of different transport modes and demanding improvements, the Promotion of Public Transport (PTP) and the Territorial Mobility Authority (ATM) of Camp de Tarragona are holding the thirteenth edition of the Transport Race this year. This annual event, part of the European Mobility Week, will take place on September 16, 2026.
The test will allow for a real-world comparison of door-to-door time, direct cost, estimated emissions, reliability, and accessibility of various mobility alternatives. The race does not seek a single winner, recognizing that each journey and each person have different needs, and factors such as waiting times, transfers, information, safety, or accessibility barriers are as decisive as travel minutes.
The starting points for the race will be defined based on registrations from individuals, entities, and town councils. As a reference, the 2025 edition included routes from Tarragona (with an urban journey from the URV), Reus, Cambrils, Vila-seca, Torredembarra, Montblanc, and la Selva del Camp. The organization will assign prior departure times to concentrate arrivals in Tarragona approximately between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
Upon arrival, participants must register the time and mode of transport used for the final comparison. Once all participants have gathered, a refreshment will be offered, and a group photograph will be taken, in which participation is voluntary. Minors may participate under the supervision of a responsible adult.
