The decision to reopen coincides with the end of the precautionary measures that were activated yesterday, affecting mobility and non-urgent activity in medical centers. Civil Protection lifted the restrictions at 1:00 PM, earlier than the initially planned 5:00 PM.
Although the meteorological phenomenon was milder than predicted, Civil Protection defended the necessity of the restrictions for family logistics and recalled that meteorology is based on probabilities. The Meteorological Service of Catalonia explained that the storms moved faster and fell mainly into the sea.
Given the high risk of flooding in Vallès Occidental, the municipality had activated the Municipal Civil Protection Plan (DUPROCIM) in alert phase. As a preventive measure, nursery schools, social services, the Municipal School of Arts, the Municipal Pavilion, swimming pools, civic centers, and the Library were closed.
The Municipal Emergency Committee, which met three times, agreed to reinforce preventive actions such as securing containers and reviewing critical points susceptible to flooding. With the change in forecast, the Town Council plans to downgrade the DUPROCIM to a pre-alert phase and subsequently deactivate it.
