The Roda de Berà City Council has closed a section of the Camí de Ronda, from Roc de Sant Gaietà, to pedestrians to carry out urgent repairs due to damage caused by intense rainfall recorded between late August and October.

The downpours have degraded the rock structure supporting this section of the promenade, necessitating intervention to ensure public safety. Since late August, municipal services have been monitoring the area's condition, observing soil displacement and progressive deterioration, highlighting the need for action to prevent potential landslides.
The planned work includes demolishing damaged elements, reconstructing the affected section, and reinforcing the structure to restore safety and stability. During the works, the section will remain closed to pedestrians, and part of Punta d’en Guineu beach will be temporarily restricted to allow machinery access. Alternative routes have been established for continued coastal access.
The initial repair cost is estimated at 50,000 euros. The City Council believes the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through its Coastal and Environmental department, should cover this expense, as the municipality transferred ownership of the Camí de Ronda to the State two years ago for a pavement renovation project that has yet to be completed. The Ministry argues that ownership transfer has not been formalized, complicating the determination of who is responsible for the recent damage costs. In response, the City Council will seek funding through state subsidies for municipalities severely affected by natural disasters.
