Roda de Berà has kicked off a new academic year for its University Extension Classes for Seniors, an initiative developed in collaboration with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) that provides lifelong learning and educational outreach.

The inauguration of the sessions took place yesterday afternoon at the Luis del Olmo Radio Museum. The event was attended by Mayor Pere Virgili, councilwomen Rosana Dorantes and Remei Gavaldà, and councilman Rafa Luna.
The inaugural lecture, titled “The Other Side of the Bourbons,” was delivered by historian Jaume Borràs and introduced by Jordi Diloli, Commissioner for Culture and Territory at the URV.
These classes aim to bring university knowledge to the public, featuring a diverse program covering history, art, culture, science, society, and territory, enabling continuous learning regardless of age.
In Roda de Berà, sessions will be held on the first Tuesday of each month, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, at the Hotel d’Entitats. The program is updated quarterly based on requests made to the URV.
For November and December, two lectures have already been confirmed: on November 3rd, “Josep M. Jujol, living architecture,” by Francesc Roig Queralt; and on December 1st, “Polar regions, sublime nature, and the greed of the powerful.”
The full annual program costs 36 euros and grants access to all sessions until June. Individual lectures can also be attended for 5 euros each. Registrations are accepted at the Municipal Adult School Mediterrani.
