The Extraordinary El Niño Lottery Draw held on January 6 distributed the first prize, 06703, across 11 Catalan towns, including Salou and Barcelona.

The winning number, 06703, valued at 200,000 euros per ticket, was sold in 11 Catalan municipalities. These include Terrassa, Mataró, Barcelona, Cornellà de Llobregat, El Prat de Llobregat, Rubí, Mollet del Vallès, Sant Pere de Ribes, Castelldefels, Sabadell, and Salou. The second prize, 45875 (75,000 euros per ticket), also partially touched down in Barcelona.
The total expenditure in Catalonia for this edition of the El Niño Lottery was 92.691 million euros, representing a 0.69% decrease compared to the previous year. The average spending per inhabitant stood at 11.41 euros, lower than the 11.80 euros spent last year.
By province, Lleida registered the highest per capita spending (20.9 euros), significantly influenced by sales from the La Bruixa d'Or administration in Sort. Meanwhile, the union of Treasury technicians (Gestha) estimates that the State could collect up to 21.45 million euros in taxes from the draw, nearly two million more than the previous year.

Gestha argues that taxation should begin at 2,500 euros, a measure with which the State could collect about 10.7 million euros more.

Currently, only the first and second prizes are subject to taxation, as they exceed the exempt threshold of 40,000 euros. The first prize (200,000 gross euros) must pay 32,000 euros in taxes, while the second prize (75,000 euros) contributes 7,000 euros to public coffers.
