The Plaça de la Pau in Salou hosted the XXXIX Giants Gathering on Sunday, bringing together nearly 30 groups from across Spain, with Calvià as the special invited guest.

The XXXIX Giants Gathering, one of the most emblematic events of the Salou Winter Major Festival, filled the Plaça de la Pau with popular culture and a spirit of fellowship. The event featured the participation of nearly 30 giants groups, including formations from Navarra and the Colla dels Gegants de Calvià, which gave the celebration a national scope.

"Events like this show that our culture and traditions are very much alive."

The parade traveled through the main streets of the municipality until reaching the Passeig Jaume I, where the groups were received by the Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, and the Councillor for Culture, Júlia Gómez, along with other council members. Granados formally greeted the Councillor for Culture of Calvià, Teresa Tena, who led the twenty members of the Mallorcan group, headed by Pol Méndez.

"Cohesionar people, build community, and enjoy popular culture together."

After the joint dance, institutional gifts were exchanged. Teresa Tena presented the Mayor with a replica of the helmet of King Jaume I, while Pere Granados presented her with a replica of the monument to the monarch that presides over the Passeig Jaume I. This exchange underscored the twinning between the two municipalities, historically linked by the figure of Jaume I, who sailed from Salou on September 5, 1229, for the conquest of Mallorca.
