The Archbishop of Tarragona, Joan Planellas, has voiced concern over political parties that, in his view, could contradict the values of the Gospel, during a recent interview with La Vanguardia.

In his statements, Planellas stressed that the ecclesiastical institution does not identify with any specific political ideology, highlighting that the teachings of the Gospel align with neither the right nor the left. He urged caution regarding extreme political stances that might deviate from fundamental faith principles.

"The Church does not identify with any political option. The Gospel is neither right-wing nor left-wing."
