A delegation from the shipping company COSCO Bulk, led by its CEO, Huang Nan, has visited Port Tarragona to advance the implementation of activities at the future multipurpose terminal for containers and general cargo at the Andalusia Quay and the intermodal terminal at La Boella.

This visit is part of the regular working meetings held between the Chinese logistics conglomerate and the Port Authority of Tarragona to progress the implementation of activities at the future multipurpose terminal for containers and general cargo at the Andalusia Quay and the intermodal terminal at La Boella, which will be operated by the alliance formed by COSCO and the Argentine group PTP.
The meeting allowed for a deeper discussion on the business model that COSCO Bulk is designing for Tarragona. The company is promoting a strategy to transform its fleet of over 500 bulk cargo vessels – the largest in the world – into a multipurpose fleet capable of also carrying containers, vehicles, and general cargo, thereby optimizing routes.
With COSCO's arrival in Tarragona, the Chinese logistics conglomerate will establish the port of Tarragona as one of its Mediterranean hubs for this new multipurpose fleet. In this regard, the characteristics that Port Tarragona possesses in terms of location, storage capacity, and intermodality make Tarragona a key enclave in the deployment of the shipping company's new strategy.
